We’ve always committed to taking care of you, and now you can see us from your home. We introduce Vanguard Virtual Visits. You can schedule a dermatology appointment to see us via Zoom Healthcare.
How does a Virtual Visit work?
You can call Vanguard to schedule your appointment. We will send you forms to complete prior to your appointment, which you can fill out digitally. Please take photos of any area of concern, e.g., rash, new lesion, moles, and email back to us through our secure email.
Before your scheduled time, one of our team members will call you to register you in the system, get your list of medications, and take a medical history. We will send you a link for your virtual appointment and ensure you can get online for your Virtual Visit.
Is this for all visit types?
No. Vanguard Virtual Visits can cover most non-emergency dermatology or plastic surgery issues. If you have an urgent condition that requires treatment and cannot be delayed, then you will need to schedule an in-office appointment. Examples of an urgent concern would be a rapidly spreading rash or a melanoma. If you are uncertain, please call us or schedule a Virtual Visit for an evaluation.
What conditions do you treat virtually?
Our Vanguard medical providers can treat a wide range of skin conditions. The most common for Virtual Visits include acne, rashes, eczema, psoriasis, skin lesions, warts, and more.
What if I have to come into the office after the Virtual Visit?
A Virtual Visit may require a follow up in office if any of the following are required:
- Diagnostic tests, labs, or biopsy
- Surgery
The follow up visit may take place in May, unless it is a serious concern that cannot be delayed. Non-urgent surgeries and procedures are currently postponed under Governor’s Executive Order.
Is this covered by insurance?
The following insurances will cover a Virtual Visit:
- Medicare
- Medicaid
- Tricare
- Most Medicare Advantage plans
- Most major commercial insurance plans (call to confirm)
If your insurance does not cover a Virtual Visit, the charge is $110 for a new patient visit and $90 for an established patient visit.
An aesthetic or cosmetic surgery consultation is self pay.
Is the video secure?
We use a secure platform for your Virtual Visit. The interaction is not recorded or stored by us, and we ask that our patients not record their visits.
What do I need for a quality visit?
- High-speed internet connection
- Updated web browser
- Computer with a camera or a smart phone
- Be in a brightly lit room, natural lighting preferred
- For the body area you need to show us, wear clothing that makes that area easily accessible
