Imagine living a different life. Imagine being born into poverty. Imagine a community where there is no clean water, scarcity of food, lack of education and violence that erupts in the streets at night. This is the every-day reality of children who live in Cite Soleil, Haiti, the largest slum in the western hemisphere.
Now imagine a group of big-hearted people who saw the needs of this community and felt a calling to step into the most violent and poverty-stricken area of Cite Soleil to make a positive impact. They began to form relationships and trust by bringing clean water daily. Out of that trust they built Hope Church, Hope Academy and Hope Medical Clinic to provide for basic needs to allow this community to thrive. Twelve miles away, in a small rural town called Titanyen, they also built Grace Academy, Grace Orphanage and Grace Medical Clinic.
Let me introduce you to Healing Haiti, a faith-based organization whose calling is to unify and elevate Haitian families through creating jobs and providing excellent education that will change future generations. At Vanguard Skin Specialists, we saw the amazing work that Healing Haiti was doing in these communities and were excited to partner with them to support their mission.
We sponsor a Haiti doctor who works at Hope Medical Clinic, and we also sponsor a maternal health program. Over the last several years, Vanguard has taken 2 trips to serve in Haiti and look forward to going again early next year. Our lives were changed by the beautiful people that we met and the remarkable growth and positive transformation that we observed.
Now, more than ever, Haiti is in need of assistance. An earthquake last month has left >2,200 dead and many more without essential resources. During this time, we would like to invite you to sponsor a child or elder in Cite Soleil or Titanyen. When you support the excellent work of Healing Haiti, you will be investing in the lives and futures of a most generous and resilient people. For your support, you will receive annual updates about the child or elder that you sponsor as well as quarterly videos that highlight the impact of your sponsorship.
