Breast Surgery in Colorado Springs
Breast surgery is a highly personal decision. Understanding that the size and shape of your breasts are visible through clothing, our plastic surgeons work closely with you to help you achieve the result you are seeking.
A variety of factors can affect the size and shape of your breasts, including pregnancy, weight loss, gravity and time, congenital breast defect, or breast cancer. Or you may simply desire a different cosmetic look. Regardless of the reason for breast surgery, it is now safer and easier than ever before.
If you are interested in breast augmentation, breast lift, or breast reduction, call Vanguard Skin Specialists today at (719) 355-3861 for a consultation with our board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. James Banich, in Colorado Springs. You can also request an appointment online.
Breast Augmentation
Breast augmentation is one of the most common cosmetic surgery procedures Dr. Banich performs. Breast augmentation can give you a fuller and more proportioned look through implants.
During your consultation, your plastic surgeon will discuss your goals in detail – specifically the size breasts you desire and your activity level – to ensure you make a decision that fits with your aesthetic goals and lifestyle.
Most patients desire a natural look. The two most common types of implants are saline and silicone, although over the past several years, the FDA has approved new implants. With multiple choices, we can determine the best implant for your body shape, size, and comfort. During your consultation, your plastic surgeon will work with you to determine the best implant type and surgical method to provide the look you desire.
Breast Lift (Mastopexy)
Over time, gravity and the loss of the skin’s elasticity can cause breasts to sag and lose firmness. This, combined with pregnancy, nursing, or weight loss can cause breasts to lose their youthful fullness.
A breast lift can be performed alone or with breast augmentation to restore fullness and size. A breast lift can also reduce the size of the areola. By removing excess skin and tissue and tightening the overall skin envelope of the breast, a breast lift can result in a more pleasing shape.
A breast lift will not address the top half of the breast or increase the size of the breast, so if those areas are of concern, then we recommend combining a breast lift with breast augmentation. Your plastic surgeon can discuss options during your consultation.
Breast Reduction
Women with large breasts may desire smaller breasts for cosmetic reasons or you may need to address symptoms such as back pain or breathing problems. Breast reduction surgery can help create the body image you seek and address medical conditions caused by large breasts.
This surgery removes fat and tissue from the breasts while tightening the skin to create smaller breasts. Each procedure is customized to the patient, so it is important to discuss your goals and expectations in detail with Dr. Banich during your consultation.
Breast Reconstruction
Dr. James Banich has extensive experience in breast reconstruction. He values listening to and working with patients who have undergone a mastectomy on one or both sides.
With multiple options to pursue, our plastic surgeon schedules longer consultations for breast reconstruction so they can understand your medical and surgical history, plans for your mastectomy, and need for additional cancer treatments. Our goal is to help you reach a cosmetic result that restores your beauty, while ensuring your safety and health. Learn more about breast reconstruction.
