Ryan Lawrence, MD
Board-Certified Dermatologist
Dr. Ryan Lawrence is a board-certified dermatologist who practices general and surgical dermatology. He has an interest in treating skin cancer, psoriasis, eczema, and many other medical and surgical dermatologic conditions.
Dr. Lawrence earned a Bachelor of Science degree in microbiology from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas, where he graduated summa cum laude and was awarded the “Outstanding Biology Graduate” achievement for maintaining a 4.0 GPA. He then attended medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas, where he served as president of the distinguished medical honors society Alpha Omega Alpha.
Dr. Lawrence continued his medical training by completing an internal medicine internship at The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. Dr. Lawrence then moved to New Orleans, Louisiana, where he completed his dermatology residency at Tulane University. During his final year of residency at Tulane, Dr. Lawrence served as chief resident.
PERSONAL HISTORY
Dr. Lawrence was born and raised in Georgetown, Texas. He spent his childhood and high school days playing baseball, fishing, camping, and hunting. Dr. Lawrence developed a passion for science and biology at an early age and decided while high school, he wanted to pursue a career in medicine.
Dr. Lawrence attended Texas A&M University (Gig’em!), where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in microbiology. While pursuing his undergraduate degree, he worked in a lab discovering and isolating novel antibiotics.
Dr. Lawrence then attended medical school at The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. During clinical rotations, he discovered his interest and passion for the field of dermatology. After medical school, Dr. Lawrence completed one year of internal medicine training at The University of Texas Medical Branch. He then completed his dermatology residency at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he served as chief resident.
It was in New Orleans that Dr. Lawrence met the love of his life, Erika. They got married in March 2023.
After completing a residency in New Orleans, Dr. Lawrence and Erika decided to move to Colorado Springs to join the team at Vanguard Skin Specialists. Driven by a passion for helping others in his community and the world around him, Dr. Lawrence was inspired to join Vanguard Skin Specialists due to their shared values. Both Dr. Lawrence and Erika are so excited to be a part of the Colorado Springs community and experience the majestic beauty that Colorado offers.
When not in the clinic, you can find Dr. Lawrence engaged in a laundry list of interests and hobbies, including hiking, fishing, skiing, scuba diving, home-brewing, gardening, playing pickleball, and making traditional Texas BBQ.
