PRP for Hair Loss

What Is PRP?

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy is a safe, natural, and non-surgical treatment that uses your body’s own healing power to stimulate hair growth and strengthen thinning hair. During the procedure, a small amount of your blood is drawn and processed to isolate platelet-rich plasma—a concentrated source of growth factors and proteins that promote tissue repair and regeneration.

When injected into the scalp, PRP helps reawaken dormant hair follicles, increase blood flow, and extend the growth phase of hair, leading to thicker, healthier strands over time.

At Vanguard Aesthetics, our providers perform PRP treatments in a comfortable, medical setting using advanced techniques for optimal precision and minimal downtime.

How PRP Works for Hair Loss

PRP contains essential growth factors that act as messengers, signaling the body to regenerate and strengthen hair follicles. When delivered to areas of thinning, these growth factors:

  • Stimulate new hair growth
  • Increase follicle thickness and density
  • Strengthen existing hair
  • Improve scalp health and circulation

Because PRP uses your own plasma, the treatment is all-natural and biocompatible—free from synthetic chemicals or additives.

Who Is a Good Candidate for PRP?

PRP is ideal for individuals with mild to moderate hair thinning who prefer a natural, non-surgical option for hair restoration. It’s most effective for those who still have active hair follicles and early signs of shedding or thinning.

During your consultation, your provider will determine whether PRP or another treatment—such as medical therapy or aesthetic scalp care—is the best fit for your goals.

What to Expect from Your Treatment

Your PRP treatment begins with a consultation and scalp evaluation to assess your pattern and degree of hair loss.

  • Treatment Time: Approximately 45–60 minutes.
  • Downtime: Minimal—mild tenderness or redness may occur for 24–48 hours.
  • Results: Early improvement in texture and shedding after 1–2 sessions, with visible regrowth after 3–6 months and continued thickening over time.
  • Series & Maintenance: Typically 3–4 treatments, spaced 4–6 weeks apart, followed by maintenance every 6–12 months.

What Does PRP Pair Well with for Hair Loss?

PRP can be part of a comprehensive hair restoration plan when combined with:

  • Medical treatments such as topical minoxidil or oral finasteride
  • Nutritional or hormonal support for overall scalp health
