Ben Freemyer, MD

Dr. Ben Freemyer grew up in San Antonio, Texas, surrounded by both the rugged outdoors and the power of medicine—his father’s dedication ignited his own passion for the field. As an undergraduate at Baylor University, he pursued biology and graduated summa cum laude, taking time off to staff Baylor’s Outdoor Adventure program, running rock walls, high ropes courses, and helping at the marina—his love for exploration intertwined with his academic drive.

He then attended McGovern Medical School at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, where he distinguished himself in the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. After completing his internship in Dallas, Dr. Freemyer returned to Houston for his dermatology residency and subsequent fellowship in dermatopathology—deepening his expertise in both clinical skin disease and the microscopic world of lesions.

With his wife, Ali, and their three daughters in tow, Dr. Freemyer relocated to Colorado Springs, drawn by both the inspiring natural beauty and a shared commitment with the team at Vanguard Skin Specialists to combine excellence with service.

Today, he sees dermatology not just as a discipline of treating skin, but as caring for people—bringing precision, compassion, and a spirit of discovery (whether in the clinic, under a microscope, or out in nature) to every patient encounter.
